EL SALVADOR
El Salvador recibi su primer env o de vacunas COVID-19 el 17 de febrero, un lote de 20.000 dosis de la vacuna de Oxford-AstraZeneca. El Gobierno indica que un segundo lote de 90.000 dosis est en camino desde India, con un lote adicional de 400.000 que llegar la tercera semana de marzo. Con el objetivo del Gobierno de vacunar a 4 millones de personas, El Salvador tambi n recibir 51.480 dosis de la vacuna de Pfizer y otras 324.000 dosis de la vacuna de Oxford-AstraZeneca a trav s del mecanismo COVAX.
El Ministerio de Salud indic el 19 de febrero que ya se han administrado m s de 2.000 dosis como parte del objetivo del Ministerio de aplicar 2.000 dosis diarias al personal sanitario de primera l nea y, eventualmente, a 25.000 personas al d a.
BOLIVIA
Los datos oficiales indican que la tasa de infecciones por COVID-19 en al menos cinco de los nueve departamentos de Bolivia ha alcanzado una estabilizaci n tras la segunda oleada que afect al pa s en las ltimas semanas. Esta tendencia tambi n se refleja en la disminuci n del n mero de municipios bajo la designaci n de alto riesgo del Gobierno, que ha bajado a 79 desde los 89 de la semana anterior.
Bolivia comenz su despliegue de vacunaci n a finales de enero con 20.000 vacunas iniciales administradas a trav s de varios niveles de gobierno. Bolivia espera env os de casi 1 mill n de dosis a trav s del mecanismo COVAX y 500.000 dosis de Sinopharm en febrero, adem s de env os en marzo de 5 millones de dosis de la vacuna Sputnik V y 5 millones de dosis de la vacuna Oxford/AstraZeneca adquiridas por el Gobierno.
JAMAICA
Jamaica volvi a batir su r cord de casos de COVID en un solo d a el 16 de febrero, registrando 468 nuevos casos en comparaci n con el m ximo anterior de 403. El total de casos del 16 de febrero es la cuarta vez que Jamaica bate su r cord de casos en un solo d a en menos de dos semanas, ya que el actual brote ha hecho que los casos activos superen los 6.700, lo que supone un aumento de m s del 222 por ciento desde el inicio de 2021.
Este aumento ha ejercido a n m s presi n sobre el sistema de salud p blica de Jamaica, que ya se encontraba saturado. Los hospitales de las parroquias m s afectadas han informado de que sus salas de aislamiento est n al l mite, mientras que las autoridades sanitarias han activado un plan de refuerzo para trasladar pacientes y aumentar la capacidad del personal de primera l nea.
