Ukraine: WASH Cluster Incident Report No. 179 - 17/03/2019

Voda Donbasa (VD) informed WASH Cluster, that yesterday, 17th March 2019, the 1 st Lift Pumping Station (PS) of the South Donbas Water Way was under shelling, which continued from 13:40 – 14:30 (Kiev time). Staff of the PS was took cover in the bomb shelter at that moment and only reported about heavy shelling. The 1st LPS supplies water to five filter stations, between them providing clean water to more than 1.1 million people, many living in Government Controlled Areas (GCA) for example in Mariupol, Pokrovsk and Volnovakha. On the other side of the line the Pumping Station supplies Donetsk city, Yasynuvata, Dokuchaievsk,
Yasne and Olenivka in Non-Government Controlled Areas (NGCA). The five filter station asre Donetska Filter Station (378, 983 people), Krasnoarmiiska Filter Station (267,403); Velykoanadolska Filter Station (89,241); and Starokrymska Filter Stations №1 and №2 (470,436 people). The WASH Cluster is in touch with Voda Donbasa and OSCE and will inform about any additional information or needs.
