By Benjamin Moses M. Ebreo BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, March 15 (PIA) – The provincial government and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) recently signed an agreement for the provision of relief assistance to the victims of typhoon ‘Ompong’ last year. Governor Carlos Padilla said under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the PCSO will provide P.5 million to the province as assistance for the typhoon victims. “This will be properly implemented and monitored as to its distribution to the typhoon victim-beneficiaries. This will also be accompanied by accomplishment and liquidation report,” he said. Padilla said the calamity assistance will be used for the purchase of medicines, relief goods and other needs for the typhoon-affected communities of the province. The PCSO assistance was sought and recommended after a report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) showed that several families in various towns here have been severely affected during Ompong’s onslaught. Padilla said the province is very grateful for the PCSO assistance a this will augment the local resources of the provincial government in helping the plight of the typhoon victims. “We just hope that this will somehow ease the burden of our fellow Novo Vizcayanos who are still recovering from the wrath of Ompong,” he added.
