Libya: Four-day National Workshop on Reproductive and Maternal Health (RMH) Packages of Interventions in line with WHO updated recommendations in Libya Adoption and Training of Trainers [EN/AR]

Tunis, Tunisia, 11-14 March 2019 WHO Country Office for Libya in collaboration with Department of Health Promotion and Health Protection (DHP) of WHO Regional Office for Eastern Mediterranean and MOH Libya organized a four-day National Workshop on Reproductive and Maternal Health (RMH) Packages of Interventions in Line with WHO updated recommendations in Libya. This workshop took place from 11-14 March 2019 which aimed to introduce the WHO recently updated guidelines on preconception care, family planning , antenatal care and intrapartum care for a positive pregnancy experience and train about 40 participants including reproductive health policy makers , program managers , health providers, academia, researchers, obstetric, gynecologist and midwives professional Association from different regions of Libya as well as representatives of UNICEF, UNFPA, IOM and WHO Regional and Country Offices. The workshop aimed at discussing and adopting the WHO updated packages of interventions for preconception care, family planning, antenatal care and intrapartum care in L as well as updating participants on key linkages to be strengthened for better integration of RMH services along the continuum of care. The national workshop concluded with the validation and endorsement of packages of interventionsfor preconception care, family planning, antenatal care and intrapartum care in line with WHO updated recommendations in Libya, as well as Training Manual for Master Trainers regarding the same subject. The Ministry of health Libya representatives expressed their ownership and will to ensure the implementation of the WHO key recommendations regarding women’s health at community, primary, secondary and tertiary health service levels. In addition, a comprehensive and integrated plan of action which delineates strategic actions at national and sub-national level have been developed and endorsed. The action plan include key RMH evidence based, cost effective and high impact interventions in line with WHO recommendations and the National Strategy on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn , Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) 2019-2023 endorsed in January 2019.
